Hey Clay County,
I usually keep things Clay around here. So let me start by giving credit where credit is due—this one’s about what the Missouri Department of Transportation is going to do. This is not about The Clay County Highway Department, although, while I’m on the topic, our Clay County Highway Team is hard-working, helpful, and brilliant in every way. Even though this is a MoDOT thing, I’m telling you about it because it probably will effect you.
Drum roll, please. Are you drumming? I don’t see hear very much drumming. Okay here it goes:
WE ARE GETTING SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ON HIGHWAY 92 IN CLAY COUNTY
For some time now, community leaders—including your County Commissioners—have lobbied for HWY 92 improvements. Well, it worked! The folks at MoDOT are finishing up a safety audit of the highway and plan to finalize both design and scope of the overall improvement project this year. It looks like 2020 or 2021 will be when actual construction begins. I told you guys I would keep you in the know.
Here are some bullet points:
- Resurfacing between Liberty Street and Nations Road
- Improved lane and shoulder width
- Turn lanes at Tillman, Route C, and Route A
- Culvert extensions
- Improved sight distance at WHB and Five Corners Road
- Brush and tree clearing
That’s all I have for now. Thanks for tuning in–keep coming back for more Clay County updates!
